The Ideal Family Safari Holiday
Parents are often at a loss when they have to keep children occupied during the holidays. Children get bored quickly and should have a variety of 'stimuli' to keep them out of mischief. Smaller children should be watched, while teenagers should get their eyes unglued from tablets, iPhones and social media networks. One sure fire way to achieve this is with a Family Safari Holiday! We at African Sky Safaris & Tours have just the tour for you. Our "World in One Country Tour" is a private tour of 15 days and covers a large part of the South African landscape.
This family safari starts in either Johannesburg or Pretoria and ends in Cape Town. Transfers are by plane and air-conditioned vehicle, while an expert guide provides all the little known facts about the areas visited. Starting in the Mpumalanga Highlands, the tour kicks off with a visit to the quaint little trout town of Dullstroom. Visitors are taken to the Blyde River Canyon, God's Window and the mining town of Pilgrims Rest before heading for the Kruger National Park and three nights in the Kruger Gate Lodge. Game drives are in open vehicles and done at times when the best sightings are possible. You are also in luck if you see both the white and the black rhino.
Just when the kids start to stare out of the window, to nothing in particular, the scenery changes and the family safari takes a swing to the Kingdom of Swaziland. Overnight there you can experience the stunning Ezulwini, loosely translated "Heaven Valley"; then on to Zululand and the village of Shakaland named after the famous Zulu King Shaka.
A short flight from Durban to George, takes the family safari to the Garden Route. The route itself is a national treasure and arguably unlike anywhere else in the world with its quaint towns, unspoilt coastline, sights and scenes. Guests will also visit the fascinating Cango Caves, drive the beautiful route over the Swartberg Mountains and have a look at the ostrich town of Oudtshoorn. Knysna, the Knysna lagoon and the Knysna reserve are also on the itinerary as is the coastal town of Mossel Bay and thereafter back inland towards the town of Swellendam. Final stop is Cape Town, Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and places like Cape Point and Robben Island.
